Poppy Playtime Browser Game: Escape Guide for the Car, Boat and Bridge

Published · 3 min read

The Poppy Playtime game on this site is a fan-made house escape: you wake up on a bed, Huggy Wuggy is crouched in the doorway, and the house belongs to two crazy old people and their dog. Everything you need to get out is somewhere inside. This guide walks through how to find it without getting caught.

Choose the right mode

After START the game asks for a mode. Ghost makes you invisible — nobody can see you, so it is the best way to learn the rooms. Easy makes granny and grandpa very slow. Classic is the normal game. Heavy makes them faster and gives you only one attempt. Spend your first run on Ghost or Easy opening every drawer and cabinet; the layout does not change, so what you learn carries over.

Moving and hiding

The joystick sits at the bottom left: hold the mouse button on it and drag. Drag anywhere else to look around, and tap the running man to sprint. To hide, click a cabinet door and climb in — but the game has a rule that catches everyone once: you cannot hide when you are within the olds' eyesight. Turn a corner first, then hide. Some rooms are marked as a safe zone; granny and grandpa cannot get there, which makes them good places to stop and think.

Let the hints write your checklist

Almost every lock in the house tells you what it wants when you click it. A few of the lines you will see:

  • "You need a crowbar" — for the safe. "A screwdriver will do" works on another lock.
  • "You need a saw to cut the board."
  • "You need a board to repair the floor" — pick up the nails too.
  • "Need a knife to cut."
  • "This wall can be broken. Find a suitable tool."

Because you are always told what is missing, the trick is simply to remember where you saw each tool. When a hint names something you already passed, go back for it along a route that has a cabinet on the way.

Build the stun gun

Two parts of a stun gun are hidden in the house. Pick up both and assemble them on the workbench; ammunition is separate, and the game warns you with "No more bullets" when you run dry. A shot knocks a pursuer out for a short time — not forever — so use it to break a chase, not to clear the house.

The dog

The dog guards the outside. It will stay busy for as long as it takes to eat, so bring it meat and move while it is distracted.

Three ways out

  1. By car. The car in the garage "can be repaired". It needs its wheels, petrol and the car keys. This route has the most parts, so it suits a player who already knows the house.
  2. By boat. The boat is only missing its paddle — "I can't sail away without it." Fewer parts, but you must reach the water.
  3. Over the bridge. The third ending the game lists. Watch for the electrified door on the way: the hint says to follow the wires and cut the power before you touch it.

Pick one route per attempt. Carrying half of the car and half of the boat is how most runs end in a cabinet with granny standing outside.

After the escape

Getting out of the house finishes PART 1. PART 2, on the second button of the part menu, picks up after the escape — the character wonders where they are, sees a small town ahead and hopes there are police there to help.
